"They're too old for kid stuff and too young for nothing."

Older teens at camp end up in a weird limbo. The kids' games are beneath them, but nobody's giving them anything meaningful to do. They default to their phone because it's the only thing that respects their intelligence. These 15 challenges give them autonomy, real skills, and something worth bragging about.

Why This Works for Older Teens

These challenges are built on what drives teens: autonomy, competence, and doing things that matter.

The Approach

Autonomy, Not Orders

Every challenge gives them a goal and gets out of the way. No micromanaging, no step-by-step hand-holding. They figure it out.

The Design

Real Skills, Not Busy Work

Skills they'll actually use and remember. Things most adults wish they'd learned at that age. Not just "go count birds."

The Parent Guide

How to Introduce Without the Eye-Roll

The parent guide shows you exactly how to get them into it. No announcements, no lectures. I tested this with my own teens. It works.

Perfect For…

Older teens ages 15 to 17 who are ready for independence and real challenges, not kid stuff.

Paola and Olaf at camp

Hi, I'm Paola

My kids are 18 and 25. I've been through the teen camping years. The moments that stuck weren't planned activities. They were the "I bet you can't" moments, the quiet night hike, the time my teen cooked the entire meal and we just watched. These challenges are those moments, bottled up and ready to use.

Questions?

Is this a physical product?

No. It's a digital download. You get a PDF instantly and print the cards at home. Print as many copies as you need.

What ages is this for?

Ages 15 to 17. These are more independent, require more skill, and some are designed for solo completion. A couple involve knives or fire management, always with safety notes.

What language is it in?

Every card has both English and Spanish instructions. Works perfectly in bilingual families.

How is this different from the Explorer pack?

Explorer (ages 11–14) is competition-driven and group-oriented. Trailblazer (this one) focuses on autonomy, leadership, and advanced skills. Think "team competition" vs. "figure it out yourself." Both are great. The bundle gets you both for $9.

My teen thinks everything is "cringe." Will this work?

The parent guide shows you how to get them into it without the "cringe" reaction. I tested this approach with my own kids. It works.

Do they need special gear?

A few challenges use specific tools, but nothing you wouldn't already bring on a camping trip. The cards tell you exactly what's needed for each one.

Got an 11–14 year old too?

Get the Trailblazer Pack + the Explorer Pack together for $9 instead of $12. 30 total challenges, both age groups covered.
